HISTORY OF SHEILA BAGH

In northern Balochistan is the famous KHOJAK TUNNEL,a marvel of British engineering and once considered the longest in the world.Near to it is the small quite locality of SHEILA BAGH, now an army establishment. In the time of the British it was the place were the staff and workers involved in the building of the tunnel used to stay.Legend has it that Sheila was a dancer who used to dance every night to relax the workers after their hard days toil; especially so as all were living away from their families in a place were at that time there was not a soul for miles. But others claim that the name of the town is after the Pushtu word "shaalay' meaning 'a running rain torrent'
